Sharp professional logistical backup is part of the service provided by Western Commodities. We have a dedicated shipping team, led by Keith Hunt, which is responsible for shipments, warehousing and delivery to the end user.

Shipping

The complexities of shipping goods around the world is a notoriously problematic business with many variables, each demanding their own solution. No pre-defined set of contingencies can ever hope to cover every conceivable set of circumstances. Because of this we ensure that all consignments are monitored carefully and our customers are always kept fully informed.

Goods are generally shipped in 20 foot shipping containers. Getting them onto the vessels, off the vessels, through the (European docks) port health, customs etc, is all handled with keen professionalism. We cannot guarantee that adverse weather conditions, port disputes or documentary problems will never delay a consignment, but we can guarantee that if it does, our monitoring systems will ensure we and our awaiting clients are kept abreast of the situation at all times.

Warehousing

We only use audited and approved food standard warehouses to store our commodities. Stock control, hygiene and responsiveness are key qualities we insist on when choosing the public stores that care for our produce. Goods are palletised on strong pallets, which must be exchanged on collection from store. Pallets are stored in racking and are shrink wrapped for extra protection and stability. All warehouses used to store our goods are modern custom built premises with excellent food hygiene standards. Regular documented pest control systems are a basic requirement, as indeed are sure, efficient stock control systems and procedures.

Delivery

Nation-wide deliveries can be effected easily and reliably on a timed, next day or economy (3/4 day) service. Most deliveries fall into one of the following categories.

F.C.L. Delivered - containers delivered to our customers store door or nominated public warehouse.

Ex Store Release - customers collecting from our warehouse stocks around the UK

Economy Deliveries - goods delivered palletised on a three day basis (excluding day of advice)

Next Day - palletised loads delivered on a next day basis

For next day and economy deliveries we need to receive advice before 11 a.m. in order to advise our warehouse and hauliers before 12 noon.

Consolidation

Western commodities are able to consolidate shipments in the UK for worldwide distribution. We currently consolidate and deliver products all over Europe and worldwide.

We can also arrange distribution from Iran to countries all over the world, and currently arrange deliveries of containers to places such as America, Canada and Moscow.
